France attracts new expat demographic

Almost half of the people purchasing property in France are below the age of 50. This is directly related to the increased broadband coverage throughout the country. This view is supported by Alistair Lockhart, a manager within French Property Agents, who was quoted as saying: “Now the younger person moving out can conceivably work and generate revenue from the middle of nowhere."

During the recent house price boom, there was a strong presence of foreign buyers in France’s South East.

House prices remained stationary in the first quarter, but over a year there have been marked regional differences.

That is the conclusion of the latest French property market survey from FNAIM, the French estate agents association.
