Leisure Riding in France

For those who wish to ride out in magnificent countryside, where could be better than France? With literally thousands of miles of off-road tracks in stunning surroundings, there is no better way of enjoying and discovering new areas of this beautiful country.

There are many excellent establishments where you can go for guided tours or just hacking out. For those who live in France and have their own horses, there are numerous possibilities to create your own itinerary or even join something more formally organised.

Most riding schools (centres equestres) will take beginners to advanced riders, as well as rides and games for children with specially trained assistants. France is a wonderful place to learn to ride without having to go on roads!

Rolling hills, mountains, forests, lakes, farmland and, of course, the beaches by the sea. France has it all and you can get almost as far away from civilisation as you wish!

France has numerous places to stay for riders and their horses – from comfortable bed & breakfast to bivouacs in tents. Most of these places can also provide a wonderful evening meal, and a picnic lunch. Horses are also well accommodated.

So whether you wish to ride for one hour, one day or one week – France has it all on its doorstep.
